As the Arizona Cardinals gear up for the draft, they're focusing on beefing up their offensive line depth, a key priority since the league year kicked off on March 13.
One of the new additions to help achieve this goal is Evan Brown. Cards Wire got hold of the details of his one-year contract.
Brown inked a one-year deal valued at $2.35 million, with $1.1 million guaranteed, including a $650,000 signing bonus. For the 2024 season, $450,000 of his $1.445 million salary is guaranteed. The contract also includes $15,000 per-game roster bonuses, totaling up to $255,000. His salary-cap hit is $2.335 million.
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 305 pounds, Brown entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Giants back in 2018. He saw limited action in his first two seasons, playing just 11 games while bouncing around teams like the Giants, Dolphins, Browns, and Lions.
However, Brown rose to prominence in Detroit in 2021, becoming a starter. Over the next three seasons, he played 46 games with 40 starts. His snap count skyrocketed from 73% in 2021 to 97% last season in Seattle, showing his increasing impact and reliability.
Brown is part of the Cardinals' efforts to bolster their offensive line in free agency, alongside Jonah Williams, who is expected to start at either right or left tackle. The team also re-signed four other linemen from 2023, including Elijah Wilkinson, Trystan Colon, Keith Ismael, and Carter O’Donnell. Wilkinson started 10 games at left guard, and Colon started four. Williams started all 17 games for the Bengals in 2023, while Brown started 16 for the Seahawks.
The Cardinals currently have 13 linemen on the roster, including center-guard Jon Gaines II, who missed his entire rookie season due to injury, and Marquis Hayes and Austen Pleasants, who were on the practice squad last season. Other linemen on the roster are Kelvin Beachum, Dennis Daley, Hjalte Froholdt, Will Hernandez, and Paris Johnson Jr., with the latter three starting all 17 games in 2023.
