$1 Million Powerball Prize in Austin Still Waiting for Its Winner as Deadline Nears
Time is running out for the owner of a $1 million Powerball ticket purchased in Austin. If the lucky winner doesn't claim the prize soon, the money will be lost for good.
The winning ticket was bought at the Circle K store located at 6107 W. Parmer Lane in Austin for the February 2 Powerball drawing. It matched all five white ball numbers—3, 8, 31, 60, and 65—but missed the red Powerball number, 4, falling just one number short of the jackpot.
Don't Miss These Important Deadlines
- In-person claims: Lottery offices are closed on weekends, so winners must submit their claim by Friday, July 31, at 5:00 p.m. local time. Officials recommend checking claim center hours before visiting, as schedules may change.
- Mail-in claims: Players can also mail the signed ticket with a completed claim form. The envelope must be postmarked by Saturday, August 1.
Texas Lottery rules give draw game winners 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes. Once that deadline passes, the ticket is no longer valid.
If no one comes forward by August 1, the $1 million prize will expire. Instead of returning to future lottery jackpots, the unclaimed money will be transferred to the state and used for programs approved by the Texas Legislature, including public education through the Foundation School Fund and veterans' services through the Fund for Veterans' Assistance.
For one lucky ticket holder, the clock is ticking. A quick ticket check could be the difference between becoming a millionaire—or missing out forever.
