Columbus Lottery Player Scores $3 Million Scratch-Off Prize

A trip to a Columbus convenience store turned into a life-changing payday for one Georgia Lottery player.

A winning $3 million scratch-off ticket was sold at Marathon Food Mart, 5700 Warm Springs Road in Columbus, according to the Georgia Lottery. The ticket carried the game’s top prize of $3 million.

The winner claimed the prize on August 31 and opted for the lump-sum payment, receiving $1,546,986.

The lottery has not revealed the winner’s identity or shared details about when the ticket was purchased.

More Georgia Lottery Wins

The big Columbus win wasn’t the only recent jackpot-style prize in Georgia.

  • A Statesboro resident won $18,000 on August 31.
  • The prize came from the Lucky 7s Multiplier Diggi Game played through the Georgia Lottery website.
  • Diggi Games are also available through the Georgia Lottery mobile app.

Georgia Lottery players had plenty of reason to celebrate recently, with more than $32.5 million in scratch-off prizes claimed during the previous week.

Lottery Money Helps Fund Education

Beyond the winners, Georgia Lottery games also contribute to education across the state. Lottery proceeds help support programs such as the HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.

For one Columbus player, though, the latest win means a much more immediate reason to celebrate: a $3 million prize from a single scratch-off ticket.
