Massachusetts Launches Online Lottery, Bringing Scratch Tickets and Jackpot Games to Players

Buying Massachusetts Lottery tickets just got a whole lot easier. The state has officially rolled out Mass Lottery Online, giving residents ages 21 and older a new way to play from anywhere within Massachusetts.

According to State Treasurer Deb Goldberg, the new online platform is expected to do more than expand gaming options. Revenue from digital lottery sales will help fund grants supporting early childhood education and child care programs across the state.

What You Can Play Online

Players now have access to a variety of lottery games, including:

• 🎟️ Online scratch tickets
• 💰 Popular jackpot games like Powerball and Mega Millions
• 🎰 More than 20 instant-win eInstant games with wagers ranging from 50 cents to $50 per play

Many of the eInstant games feature cascading or tumbling symbols, allowing players to win instantly when matching symbol clusters appear.

Exclusive Online Games

The online platform also introduces two games that are only available digitally:

• Mass 3 with Wicked Bonus – Top prize of $500
• Mass 4 with Wicked Bonus – Top prize of $5,000

These games work similarly to the traditional Numbers Game and include a daily drawing at 10:00 p.m.

The Lottery also plans to expand its digital lineup later in 2026, including the addition of virtual horse racing. Traditional Keno will remain available only at retail locations.

How to Sign Up

To create a Mass Lottery Online account, players must:

• Be physically located in Massachusetts
• Be at least 21 years old
• Provide their full Social Security number, name, date of birth, and address during registration

For payments, credit cards are not accepted. Players can fund their accounts using debit cards, online banking, ACH bank transfers, PayPal, or Apple Pay.

Prize Claims and Responsible Gaming

Online prizes of $50,000 or more must be claimed in person at the Massachusetts Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. The Lottery also notes that online prizes cannot be claimed through a trust.

To encourage responsible gaming, the platform includes several built-in safety tools, such as:

• Spending limit options
• Pop-up reminders every 30 minutes showing play time
• Self-exclusion features
• A "cool-off" period that lets players block access to online play for up to six months

State officials say the launch of Mass Lottery Online helps modernize the lottery while supporting important public programs and providing players with a secure, responsible way to enjoy their favorite games.
