A Massachusetts man is celebrating a six-figure lottery win after betting just $1 on an online game.
Michael Sacks of East Bridgewater recently won $281,851 while playing The Lamp, a digital eInstant game offered through Mass Lottery Online.
Sacks claimed the prize before taxes at the Massachusetts Lottery headquarters in Dorchester on September 5. Under state lottery rules, online prizes worth $50,000 or more must be claimed in person at the Dorchester office.
“It still doesn't even feel real. It's a crazy feeling,” Sacks said.
What Sacks Plans to Do With the Money
Rather than spending the unexpected windfall right away, Sacks said he plans to save and invest his winnings.
His $1 play turned into a $281,851 payday.
To play Massachusetts Lottery games online, players must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be physically located in Massachusetts while playing
- Have a Mass Lottery Player Account
- Make a deposit into their account
Accounts can be created through the Massachusetts Lottery website or its mobile app.
Sacks' win is impressive, although it isn't the biggest Massachusetts lottery prize claimed this year. That record currently belongs to a $29.71 million Megabucks jackpot from a ticket sold at King Mart in Holyoke.
