A 37-year-old Michigan man is getting a major financial fresh start after winning $2 million on a Michigan Lottery scratch-off game.
The Wayne County resident recently claimed his prize from the Michigan Lottery’s Big Money Pay Day instant game. He purchased the winning ticket at Safeway Market Inc. on Dix Street in Detroit.
The winner said he scratched the ticket in his car late one night before driving home. When he discovered the $2 million prize, he was completely stunned.
“I was in complete shock!”
Although he regularly buys scratch-off tickets and has won smaller prizes before, he never expected to land such a massive payout.
What He Plans to Do With the Money
Rather than taking the full prize through annuity payments, the winner chose a one-time lump-sum payment of about $1.3 million.
His plans are simple and practical:
- Pay off all of his debt
- Save the money that remains
- Prepare financially for whatever comes next
The Michigan man said the win has left him feeling extremely excited and grateful. After paying off his debts, he plans to hold onto the remaining money and use it to build a more secure future.
