A lucky lottery player in Greater Manchester has finally come forward to claim a life-changing £1 million prize, ending a four-month search for the mystery winner.
The winning ticket was purchased in Tameside during the summer, but the winner apparently had no idea they were holding such a valuable ticket. With the claim deadline approaching in December, the National Lottery launched an appeal to find the missing millionaire.
Fortunately, the search has now come to a happy ending. The ticket holder contacted the National Lottery and started the process of claiming the £1 million prize.
Andy Carter, senior winners' advisor at Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, said the winner had spent the past four months completely unaware of their unexpected fortune.
He added that life can change in an instant and said the team was delighted that the winner had finally come forward. They are also looking forward to supporting the lucky player as they begin an exciting new chapter.
Here's what we know about the winner:
- Prize amount: £1 million
- Ticket location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
- Time of purchase: Summer
- Claim status: Winner has come forward
- Identity: Still anonymous
The winner's claim is currently being verified. Once the process is complete, they will have the option to reveal their identity publicly or keep their million-pound win private.
