The National Lottery is shaking things up in a big way this month, and it could more than double the number of Lotto millionaires each year. A major format change is rolling out that players will definitely want to know about.
Starting Sunday, June 7, Lotto tickets will now give players two chances to win on every £2 line. Yes, that means your single ticket could land you wins twice in the same draw—something the game has never offered since it began.
Here’s how the new setup works:
- Every Wednesday and Saturday draw will now include two separate rounds
- Players still pick six numbers for £2 (or choose a Lucky Dip)
- You can win in both rounds using the same ticket
Even better, the National Lottery expects this update to boost the number of millionaires from around 140 a year to about 345. That’s a huge jump in life-changing wins.
💰 What’s changing in the draws?
The first round will work just like before—match two or more numbers and you win a prize. But now there’s a twist: a second draw is added, giving you another shot using the exact same numbers.
- Round 1 prizes start from as little as £1
- Top prize can reach up to £1 million (for matching five numbers plus the bonus ball)
- Hit all six numbers in both rounds? You’ll share in the night’s jackpot
So basically, one ticket now equals double the opportunity to win big.
And that’s not all—there’s more change on the horizon. The National Lottery is also planning to launch Powerball in the UK this summer. Tickets will cost £4 per line, letting UK players join the world’s biggest jackpot game alongside participants in the United States.
Big changes, bigger prizes, and even more chances to become a millionaire—that’s the direction Lotto is heading this June.
